Aphrodite Cliffs is a fictional course set in Cyprus, a few miles south west of Paphos. The course is named after Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of love. She is said to have first emerged from the sea here and one of the offshore rocks you see is called Aphrodite's Rock to commemorate this.
The course is 7200 yards long and is a par 72.
Straightforward play will often have you in trouble. To achieve the best score you have to think differently at times. Let me give you an example.
If you hit a straight, full power shot off the tee at #7 which is a par 5 hole, you will likely end up in one of the two fairway bunkers or the rough. You could avoid this by playing your tee shot at less than full power. However, you will be unable to reach the green in two shots. Whilst a birdie will still be attainable you will have passed up the opportunity to score an eagle.
To obtain the best result play your tee shot at full power but as a draw. If placed correctly this will enable you to swing the ball right to left and in between the two bunkers, finishing nicely on the fairway with the green in reach.
If you find other holes difficult keep in mind that the obvious shot won't always put you in the best place.
The fairway bunkers and the rough are intended to be penal making greens out of reach.
Greens are mostly very reasonable with subtle breaks but are still a challenge. In normal and soft conditions even a long driver or 3 wood shot should hold on the greens as long as you don't hit the greens too far back. This should enable you to be bold in going for the flags. Dry conditions are, as you would expect, a different kettle of fish. You need to be more gentle when playing from around the greens in dry conditions.
A course overlay texture has been used which gives an excellent rendition of the type of terrain you would expect to see at this location.
Enjoy playing here and any feedback you have would be very welcome.
